Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Teaching IB Film (“TIBF”) operates teachingibfilm.com. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

Account

We collect your name and email address when you register. Passwords are stored as a bcrypt hash — your plaintext password is never stored.

Billing

Payments are processed by Stripe. We store only your Stripe customer ID, subscription status, and billing period — never raw card data. Stripe’s own privacy policy governs payment data.

Lesson Progress

We record lessons you mark complete so your progress persists across sessions.

HSCA Verification

If you are an Honor Society of Cinematic Arts (HSCA) member, we verify your membership via a secure API call using your email. Verification status and date are stored on your account.

Cookies

We use a session cookie for authentication (required while signed in) and a single localStorage key tibf-cookie-consent to record that you have acknowledged this notice. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

How We Use Your Data

  • Authenticate you and gate content by subscription tier.
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions via Stripe.
  • Send transactional emails (welcome, password reset, verification).
  • Save lesson progress.
  • Verify HSCA membership where applicable.

Sub-processors

We share data only as needed with: Stripe (billing), Resend (email), Neon (database), Vercel (hosting), HSCA portal (membership check). We do not sell your data.

Retention

Account data is kept while your account is active. Request deletion by emailing us.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction you may request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data. Contact us at the address below.
